#sparkchamber 022717 Mark Adams
Today’s #sparkchamber spotlight lands on Mark Adams, introvert, artist, optimist, cartographer, enthusiast, seeker, and animal. Mark is a cartographer-geographer with the National Park Service who paints and makes videos on Cape Cod. He travels for his health and wellbeing, and believes the sketch-journal is an antidote to seeing the world through a lens. “Non-artists should draw and non-writers should write because no one will ever see the world the way you do.” You can see a few of his paintings here, http://www.galleryschoolhouse.com/mark-adams/ and one of his remarkable travel journals here http://nowheremag.com/2016/01/india-mark-adams/
1.] Where do ideas come from?
Experiences in nature, especially moving your body through wild places and capturing the train of thought
2.] What is the itch you are scratching?
I crave inspiration. I want to be jolted by experiences, shaken awake by a realization. But it could also be some heart-wrenching musical phrase.
3.] Early bird or night owl; tortoise or hare?
I am both early and late — I like to crash midday; I am a fast tortoise. I explore every corner fast, but take my time to the goal
4.] How do you know when you are done?
I am done when time is done. Otherwise I go forever.
