A perspective-shifter, courtesy of #sparkchamber: staying close to home doesn’t mean you can’t still explore and have adventures. Outdoor-adventure, travel, and landscape photographer Ashley Macdonald is passionate about all things outside, and she looks to inspire people to explore right where they live! Her adventures definitely started farther afield though.
After graduating from university with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, Ashley booked a one-way flight to Thailand. She bought her first DSLR camera for the trip — which turned into almost two years of traveling — and taught herself how to take photos and document the adventures along the way.
She then returned to university, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering degree, all the while exploring Nova Scotia and further honing her photography skills. Upon graduation she transitioned into a career as a full-time freelance photographer based in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Her client list includes Chevrolet, Tourism Nova Scotia, Getty Images, and the Atlantic Lottery, and her photography is stunning! A portfolio of amazing beauty is on her website, and the adventure never ends on Instagram.
