#sparkchamber 062424 — Cathy Nesbitt

Vision plus focus creates magic! and our #sparkchamber guest today is living proof as we welcome entrepreneur, worm advocate, and chief giggler, Cathy Nesbitt.

Cathy grew up in Toronto in the 1960s and spent the 1980s travelling. She lived in France for a year to learn French, spent three months in Europe, then journeyed around Canada for nine weeks. In 1989–90, she and her husband navigated through Africa and Asia for 13 months. “This shaped the women I have become” — a multi award-winning environmental innovator who uses workshops and inspirational speaking to motivate people to live a more sustainable life.

A huge worm advocate — “I am on a mission to put worms in every living space — indoor composting with worms” — in 2002, she founded Cathy’s Crawly Composters: “Worms are going to play an ever-increasing role in waste management and soil production … and therefore food security. Food waste is a simple way that we can mitigate climate change and create “black gold” to grow more delicious, nutritious food. It is essential that we learn how.”

Cathy is an entrepreneur at heart, always looking for simple solutions for some of today’s challenges — worms for amending the soil, sprouts for eating [grow your own], and laughter for overall health and wellness. “Laughter yoga came to me at a time when I was struggling with all the negative energy folks were sending my way about this important mission. [You can imagine that not everyone wants to have worms in the house.] Laughter is a great connector. It oxygenates our beautiful body. It is a wonderful form of self-love. Daily laughter is a huge part of my health plan.”

Now a certified laughter yoga teacher, Cathy established Cathy’s Chuckle Club in June, 2020, leading a free laughter club online every Tuesday at 9:30 am Eastern. She also offers a 2-day Laughter Yoga Leader Training in-person July 18–19 and online October 1 and 3, sharing a repertoire of techniques to unlock the physical, mental, emotional, and societal benefits Laughter Yoga brings, relieving stress and building physical and emotional resilience.

“My working title is Cathy Crawly Laughing Bean Queen. As an entrepreneur, I have created a magical life.”

1.] Where do ideas come from?

Ideas come from above. When we get an inspired idea that makes us inhale deeply and we get very excited about what’s next, this comes from spirit. The more we tap into our true nature, the more inspired thoughts we are open to receive.

2.] What is the itch you are scratching?

We have a global mental health tsunami. Laughter has changed my life. I now wish to guide others with this magic medicine. It is easy and anyone can laugh for the health of it.

3.] Early bird or night owl? Tortoise or hare?

I am an early morning person. I love the tranquility of that time of day. My creative juices are flowing. This is my most productive time of day.

I start the day with a beautiful routine: outside earthing, gentle stretches, Qi Gong, tapping, brain gym followed by a guided meditation.

Knowing that I have a solution to help people to live a more joy-filled life keeps me going. I have received tremendous feedback from the most unexpected sources. Laughter is the fastest happiness hack and too important to leave to chance.

4.] How do you know when you are done?

I am divinely guided [as we all are when we listen]. I intuitively know when something is complete. I feel at peace.
