With Mother’s Day just around the corner, #sparkchamber warmly welcomes mother of three, wife, and capital markets executive Kelly Bourque. Originally from the east coast of Canada, Kelly has lived in Toronto for more than 20 years. She is currently a Managing Director and Head of Business Management for Equity Research at Canaccord Genuity Corp., having formerly served as a VP with BMO Capital Markets Equity Research. She holds a BA in English from the University of King's College, and considers her parents and friends among her biggest influences. She is inspired by her children, and by people who actively give back to their communities. A perfect expression of the spirit of this holiday, recognizing all those who nurture and protect. 1.] Where do ideas come from?

Everywhere. And often when I least expect them.

2.] What is the itch you are scratching?

I want to find time to focus on personal development. Easier said than done.

3.] Early bird or night owl? Tortoise or hare?

My career in finance has conditioned me to starting the work day when most people are still in bed! I find the first part of my day most productive but I always get a second wind later in the day — around the time when I need to be heading home for my most important job.

4.] How do you know when you are done?

Not sure how to answer this one. I know I am "done" when ideas stop flowing and I lose focus. On the flip-side, I know when a project is done when I feel the sense of satisfaction at being thorough and having done my best.
