A PhD scholar in art history at Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt, Samar is fueled by pure passion. “Wanting to be happy is what inspires me. I have this enormous energy trapped inside of my mind and body and I let it out in some ways — sometimes it’s love, sometimes it’s art, sometimes it’s music, and other times it’s food. Every single day there’s a new thing or a new person that influences me and inspires me.” A beautiful way to meet every new day.

1.] Where do ideas come from?

I think ideas are a mélange of past experiences, emotions, visual memory, desires and influences.

2.] What is the itch you are scratching?

I don’t want to live and die without making a change in the world, I don’t want to be one of the people who just lives to work, eat, sleep and have fun. There’s an urge within me to leave my imprint in this world. That urge is what’s driving me all the time.

3.] Early bird or night owl? Tortoise or hare?

I’m pretty much a morning person, I can’t work at night. Sometimes it’s hard for me to start, I even spend days or weeks trying to start something and I just can’t. But when I catch that moment and start, I never stop until I’m done.

4.] How do you know when you are done?

I just know, I don’t really know how.
